Born in England in 1945, Gary Harrison-Hearn is an abstract artist whose life and work have been shaped by global experience and artistic evolution. His creative journey began early, with formal art studies at the College of Art and Design in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Though he paused his artistic pursuits to support his family and serve in the Royal Air Force, art remained a quiet but enduring thread throughout his varied career.
After emigrating to Western Australia, Gary was encouraged to return to painting in the 1990s, initially working in watercolour—a medium through which he explored influences from Turner, Flint, and Robert Wade. A move to Germany in 2002 marked a turning point in his practice. There, inspired by the dynamic work of artist Emile Maul, Gary transitioned to oil on canvas and fully embraced abstraction.
