I have been a teacher in Bunbury, Western Australia for the last twenty plus years and recently retired so I can begin to focus on my artmaking. I am interested in many art forms, including sculpture, textiles and drawing.
The description "clay is the earths’ skin" has always resonated in my work; a natural resource used for over a millennium. My work focuses on storytelling through my interest with the ocean, where I am often found or with my beloved animals.
Having grown up in the wheatbelt surrounded by large open spaces and the freedom to explore nature, I am often inspired by these memories and experiences. In recent times I have explored the themes of emotion to tell stories about topics close to my heart. Although the characters are at times quirky, with attitude, often there is a deeper underlying theme attached.
I am now working from home in my shed, enjoying the challenge of this new path in life.
