My philosophy in painting is making my works as decorative as I can to expose drawing (line) and use the shapes in a surrealistic way. I call this decorative style FANTASY SURREALISM- this is my style. I am a storyteller creating my own theatre using the puppets on the stage (on canvas). I am using symbols of real things but I am not a Symbolist and I am not a Realist because I am placing these symbols in unreal places. I work strongly with the composition and I also use a combination of vibrant colours, gold/silver leaves and glazing. I like to give people the opportunity to experience happiness whilst viewing my works. I would like to be an easily recognised artist who is different and unique to others. This is my credo in art.
Henryk Szydlowski's works can be found in private, corporate and government collections in Austria, Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America and the Vatican.
