FINALIST - Perth Royal Art Award 2025

Congratulations to Lori Pensini, who has been selected as a finalist in the Perth Royal Art Award 2025 with her work 'The Conversation no.5' - 130 x 115 cm, Oil, Acrylic and burnt wood charcoal on linen. Presented at the Wilkinson Gallery, Claremont Showgrounds, this biennial award is one of Western Australia’s longest-running and most recognised art prizes, showcasing artists who push creative and conceptual boundaries.

Artist Statement:
"Unenviably, Australia has the highest rate of mammal extinction in the world and 2nd in the world for biodiversity loss. This quietly unassuming semi monochromatic work is a continuum of a series I’m exploring around conversations with animals and understanding animal decision making for conservation. It considers our relationship with other sentients, the differences in the way we perceive and experience the same world and how we can balance the different realities to ensure long term sustainability of ecosystems and the planet."

We celebrate Lori’s recognition in this major Western Australian award, running 30 August – 7 September 2025, and encourage everyone to experience her thoughtful work in person.
