It gives us great pleasure to introduce Sydney-based ceramicist Catherine Tate to our community at The Studio Gallery.

Catherine brings a distinctive voice to contemporary ceramics, uniting her background in graphic design with her deep affinity for the coastal and urban landscapes that inspire her practice.

Hand-building stoneware vessels, Catherine layers slips, oxides, and glazes to create richly textured forms that results in work that feels both grounded and ethereal, architectural and organic.

Catherine’s ceramics have been exhibited at leading Sydney galleries including Saint Cloche in Paddington, Art Gallery on Darling in Balmain, and Kerry Lowe Gallery in Newtown. She is also represented by Modern Times in Melbourne and Lakshmi in Paddington, and in 2022 was shortlisted for the prestigious National Emerging Art Prize with her ceramic work It’s a Weird World.

We are proud to share Catherine’s work here in Yallingup and look forward to seeing her practice flourish within our community of artists. Her ceramics are now available to view and purchase both in the gallery and online.
