FINALIST - 2025 Salon des Refusés
Lori Pensini
We're thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievement of acclaimed Australian artist Lori Pensini on her selection for the 2025 Salon des Refuses with her painting, Weary Woman (After Freud), oil on linen, 33 x 30 cm.
"This quiet portrayal of myself considers the feminine archetype in the modern world. It takes a step back and challenges the unrealistic versions of ourselves, the impossible beauty standards & societal expectations amplified by social media standards with its constant exposure of the pursuit of 'perfection'. Weary Woman opens up conversations around being real with oneself, transparent. It illustrates the state of repose, the beauty of the unfiltered and self-acceptance."
Each year, the Salon des Refuses, curated by the S.H. Ervin Gallery in Sydney, presents a compelling alternative selection of works not included in the official Archibald exhibition. Inclusion in the Salon has become a mark of distinction in itself, recognising bold, diverse, heartfelt and throught-provoking work that resonates deeply with audiences.
It is a testament to the enduring relevance of art that dares to feel deeply and speak quietly, but powerfully. Congratulations Lori! Your work continues to inspire and move us all.
