I spent most of my youth voluntarily incarcerated in the life room at the Slade! It has taken me over thirty years to address the subject of “The Nude” to find a reason to paint it once again. 

The fabulously raw and unselfconscious cavorting of my niece and her friend on a local beach gave me the inspiration I needed, to reinvent the subject as “figure in the landscape”. These “Sea Creatures” are at ease with both their nudity and physicality and at one with their environment. The works represent a rare and special moment
