Janette is a contemporary West Australian Artist. Painting with oils, she uses shape, perspective, colour and light to give life to a simple scene.
Each painting is created to capture a moment in time whereby the viewer can interpret the story viewed or project their own experience onto the painting. The stories in Janette’s work can often be illuminated by her detailed placement of people, birds or objects within the scene.
Janette has a passion for combining pop art and realism and seeks out scenes that bring emotion and joy to the viewer with the use of strong colours.
Janette’s father was an artist in his spare time and her grandfather a professional artist, which led to her being immersed in art from a young age.
After University, Janette first started working with Apple Computers and became an expert in Desktop Publishing, which was very new at the time. This followed with a career in Advertising and Print production, where her love of creation was nurtured.
Children and a busy family life followed, and the creative pursuits were put on temporary hold. However, she pursued her skills in painting by attending Fremantle Arts Centre Painting courses for several years whilst the children were little.
Janette also became an Adobe Certified Expert and Trainer in the Creative Suite – predominantly Adobe InDesign, however, also was proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
