Two artists come together in one exhibition creating a happy bright outlook for the New Year!
Bronwen Newbury’s paintings – often colourful, sometimes whimsical, always evocative – reflect the many places, people, scenery and dogs she has known – or hopes to know some day.
The coast provides constant fuel for Bronwen’s imagination. Her popular beach scenes – often peopled by crowds of relaxed and playful holidaymakers (and their dogs) – demonstrate her uncommon ability to blend landscape and figurative work.
Robyn Rankin’s colourful, figurative interpretations of childhood transport the audience into an exuberant yet introspective world. The journey explores the idea that children are at once totally self absorbed and private in their play, and yet so innocently and publicly on view.
Robyn also explores the theme of lovers, depicting quirky interpretations of flirting, romance and celebration. With a sense of fun, she captures the fullness and passion of love through the use of colour and texture, or she pursues the softness and tentative nature of new love with flirty glances and wistful attitudes.
